Location: Community Room in “Big Barn”  Healing Individual and Social Trauma in Russia: The Work of theHarmony Institute—1988-2008Alexander (Sasha) Badkhen, MD and Mark Pevzner, MA Introduced by Thomas Yeomans, Ph.D. 

A slide show and talk by pioneers in the field of Spiritual/Global psychology. This event offers the participant a rare journey into the history of transpersonal psychology in Russia and into the profound and moving trauma work being done today in that country.    

Alexander (Sasha) Badkhen, MD  graduated in 1976 from the State Medical School in Leningrad, Russia. He worked as a psychiatrist, psychotherapist, and medical director at the state outpatient alcohol and drug abuse clinic until the late 1980’s when he and a group of colleagues co-founded the Harmony Institute - one of the first independent, non-government psychological service organizations in Russia (1988). In 1992 Sasha collaborated with colleagues in the United States to found the International School for Psychotherapy, Counseling and Group Leadership in St. Petersburg, Russia as part of the Harmony Institute. Hecurrently serves as the school’s Director.  

Mark Pevzner, MA  Clinical Psychologist, graduated from Leningrad State University in 1980. Mark worked as a clinical psychologist at the state outpatient alcohol and drug abuse clinic until the late 1980’s when he co-founded the Harmony Institute, one of the first independent, non-government psychological service organizations in Russia (1988). Mark currently works as a psychotherapist, trainer, and supervisor at the International School for Psychotherapy, Counseling and Group Leadership,which he co-founded with Sasha Badkhen and colleagues from the United States. He is also Director of the Training Programs of Harmony Institute.

Thomas Yeomans, Ph.D. is the co-founder with Sasha Badken and Mark Pevzner of the International School for Psychotherapy, Counseling, and Group Leadership within the Harmony Institute and currently serves as Chairman of the School's International Advisory Board.
